“Chasing the Dragon” or “foily” in Australian English, comes from inhaling the vapor of a powdered psychoactive drug off a heated sheet of aluminum (Aluminium) foil. The user chases the moving vapor with a tube through which they inhale. In other words getting high from a drug, but this can also refer to the very first time you experienced something extremely exhilarating or pivotal in your life.

In a business stand point, the first time you experience a sale, transaction, or a large deal, you want to experience it again. “Large” being very dependent on how far you are into your journey. It’s a great feeling.

But I’ll warn you, this can be dangerous. Make good decisions in this time frame. Most high profile business men and women gamble in these situations. They gamble their time, money and chances that the next time they come across a deal it’ll be even larger than the previous one. I’m not saying you wont be successful, the whole reason you are “Chasing the Dragon” is because of your success. I won’t deter you from success either but this is where obsession makes you seem inept. You choose to be absent in family events, cut off friends, good friends, and even stop doing your favorite things. This is in no way bad. But it’s important to “Chase the Dragon” when you really need to… or you’ll get a call about your grand parents funeral when you thought it was only Tuesday. Time goes by fast, make sure you make the most of it. We can still make $1 million a year and have enough time for our families.
