Gen X

Gen X is on the Brink of Retirement

In 1985, Gen X-ers were 20-year-olds enjoying nightclubs with teased perms and mullets.

Now, the oldest of this generation will turn 60, marking their transition into pre-retirement.

This shift represents a significant demographic change in the Australian population.

It is paramount that Gen X needs to think about retirement.

Olympians

Do the Olympians get Compensated As If They Were Professionals?

Ziemek expected to have a sponsor by now, given his rising performance over the last three years. In 2021, he finished sixth at the Olympics, followed by a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships.

Despite his achievements, he hasn't secured a new sponsorship deal and has been financially sustaining his career through savings, grants, and support from his wife. The University of Wisconsin allows him to use its training facilities, and his coach, who works at the university, trains him for free.

While top Olympians like Katie Ledecky and Sha'Carri Richardson earn millions through endorsements, many lesser-known athletes struggle for support. About half of all Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls have never received any compensation related to their sport, with 26.5% earning less than $15k annually.

Unlike many countries with public funding for athletes, the US relies on grants from organizations like the USATF and US Olympic & Paralympic Committee, but these typically go to already established athletes. Only around 11.5% of Olympic-level athletes receive sponsorships, highlighting the disparity in support within different sports and events.

Only 11.5% of the top Olympians in America receive sponsorship and compensation from their sport. On the flip side American Olympians are left to their own devices.

Class Action Lawsuit

Australian Real Estate Class Action Lawsuit

Andrew Budzinski, one of Australia's richest men, and his company IC Markets, face a class action lawsuit alleging they misled investors, leading to potential losses of hundreds of millions.

Echo Law filed the suit in December, focusing on losses from trading contracts for difference (CFDs) before ASIC's 2021 restrictions.

CFDs are highly risky financial products, and the lawsuit claims IC Markets engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct by offering them to retail investors without proper warnings.

The company denies the allegations, asserting compliance with all regulations and calling the case meritless.
