Spiders on Mars?

NASA scientists have successfully recreated the eerie black "spiders" of Mars, a breakthrough that left researchers overjoyed and could unlock more secrets about these mysterious formations.

Known as araneiform terrain, these spider-like structures appear as dark cracks on the Martian surface and can stretch over 3,300 feet wide, resembling a swarm of spiders when viewed from above.

First spotted by orbiters in 2003, the spiders form when carbon dioxide ice sublimates, causing pressure to build up and create the crack-like features.

In a recent study, researchers mimicked this process in a lab chamber, discovering new insights into the formation and unique shapes of these Martian phenomena, paving the way for further exploration into why they occur in certain areas.

LVMH’s Bernard Arnault

Bernard Arnault is All Over the Place

Bernard Arnault, founder and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, saw his net worth plummet from an estimated $231 billion in March to $177 billion by Wednesday's close, making him the biggest wealth loser among the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This staggering $54 billion loss places him fourth in the rankings, just ahead of Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison, while others like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have maintained their fortunes.

LVMH's stock has suffered a 16% decline, reflecting struggles in key segments like wines, spirits, and fashion, with Arnault noting a "climate of economic and geopolitical uncertainty."

As the luxury market, which thrived post-pandemic, faces pressures from inflation and recession fears, even affluent consumers are scaling back, impacting sales across the board.

Mission to Mars

A New Space Companies Mission to Mars

NASA scientists are gearing up for a groundbreaking mission to uncover the mysteries of Mars' atmosphere, funded by an $80 million initiative involving the relatively unknown Rocket Lab.

Known for its lower-cost approach to space exploration, Rocket Lab has built two spacecraft, dubbed Blue and Gold, in just 3.5 years, proving that interplanetary missions can be achieved on a budget—something traditional contractors deemed impossible.

Set to launch this October, the Escapade mission aims to investigate how solar radiation strips away Mars' atmosphere and capture stunning global images of Martian auroras, which can appear in vibrant shades of ruby and emerald.

As the spacecraft prepare for their journey, scientists emphasize the importance of understanding Mars' ionosphere for future manned missions, while Rocket Lab hopes to showcase its engineering capabilities and redefine interplanetary exploration.
